About Us

Hi, I’m Cara! I’m a neurodivergent mother to two neurodivergent kiddos. My son has been diagnosed with ADHD, and also has sensory processing disorder, while my daughter is a highly sensitive child with sensory overstimulation tendencies.

Through getting to know these unique little human beings, I dove deep into finding tools to help them with coping skills, strategies to alleviate their anxiety, and to just help them unplug and regulate when needed (and it’s needed often); and have developed a truly, truly, game-changing tool!

Cara Kombol

Growing up as one of six kids, with half of my siblings being neurodivergent, I was always surrounded by different ways of thinking and experiencing the world. That shaped me early on and eventually led me to earn a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Washington State University. Now, as a neurodivergent adult and a parent to two kids navigating sensory processing disorder and ADHD, I’m deeply committed to celebrating and supporting the incredible minds in our neurodivergent community.

With over 15 years of hands-on experience raising neurodivergent kids, I’ve gained an expert-level understanding—not from textbooks, but from real-life trial and error, countless therapy sessions, and the ongoing process of learning and adapting. That experience fuels my work as a writer, where I use the magic of picture books to bring understanding, connection, and support to kids who think and feel differently.

Inspired by my own family’s journey, I have a growing list of book ideas centered on neurodiversity, empathy, and self-acceptance. My goal? To create stories that help kids feel seen, that help parents feel understood, and that build a world where neurodivergent minds aren’t just accommodated—they’re celebrated.
